A lot of people have been talking about JetBlue’s All You Can Jet Pass promotion. For $599, you can travel on as many JetBlue flights as you want from September 8 – October 8th. Passes are on sale while supplies last up until August 21st. Domestic taxes are included, but flights to Puerto Rico and international destinations are subject to additional fees. Flights must be booked 3 days in advance and only one flight per day is allowed. A $100 fee will be imposed for no-shows. If you already bought a Jetblue ticket for use during that time period, you can pay the difference and upgrade to the pass.
So, is it worth it? JetBlue flights are mostly domestic and generally inexpensive so if you are only taking one or two short flights it may not be. If you are going to fly 2 flights or more and at least one is a long haul, this might be a great deal for you. If you have the time and a bit of money, this would be a great chance to hop around the country visiting friends and family or just exploring for a month.

Although I use search sites like Orbitz to find low airfares, I normally book directly with an airline to avoid extra fees. Recently though, Orbitz caught my attention when they announced they will be dropping fees and issuing refund checks through their price assurance program if another customer books the same itinerary as you for a lower price. The fee waiver is scheduled to end on May 31st and the price assurance is capped at $250. I’m not sure if I’ll book my next flight on Orbitz, but I’ll probably consider it.

Many people are holding off on travel plans this year because they fear losing their jobs. JetBlue is offering travelers some piece of mind with the JetBlue Promise Program which will cancel and refund your ticket purchases if you find yourself suddenly out of work. The deal is only valid for flights booked between February 1-June 1, 2009 and there are a decent amount of restrictions that apply but it’s a nice incentive for people to go ahead with travel plans despite the economic uncertainty.

Elite Island Resorts is running one of the most creative travel promotions I’ve seen in a long time. With their “Roll Back Your Stock’s Value” deal, guests can pay for a room in one of their properties with shares of deflated stock in select companies. When you transfer stock to Elite, they will give you credit for it as it was valued in July 2008, before the market crashed, up to $5,000 per room. For example, if you have 100 shares of Aetna stock, currently valued around $27/share, Elite will trade you for a $4,000 room credit because it was worth $40/share back in July.
Clearly, Elite is banking on a profit when the market turns around, but I’ll leave it to you to decide if it’s a good deal.
