Delta Mobile Bag Tracking

Now you can track your bag, even during your flight, with the mobile bag tracking feature in the free Delta App. Just enter the number on your bag receipt or scan the barcode and you can track your bag in real time on your iPhone, Android or Windows phone. It will be available to Blackberry users in early 2012.

Precious Armor

One of my favorite things to buy when I travel is Christmas ornaments. They are often delicate and require special handling so I love the idea of bringing these Precious Armor bags along to carry them home. Canada Switches to Plastic Money

Canada has announced that they will be phasing out paper money and replacing it with bills made out of plastic! The new currency, made from a polymer fiber, will cost twice as much as paper, but it will last 2 1/2 times as long and is nearly impossible to counterfeit. $100 notes entered circulation earlier this month and will be followed by $50 versions in 2012 and $20, $10 and $5 varieties in 2013. It will be interesting to see how well this works and if the U.S. will follow suit as we’ve had issues with counterfeits and rising production costs here as well.

It’s the end of the year and time to check my Travbuddy map. Since my last update in August I’ve visited 3 new countries which has pushed my 2011 count to 15%. Just a few more countries left in Western Europe!

Ice Fondue

Forget about cheese and chocolate, the latest fondue craze is ice! First you take a piece of fruit, cake or marshmallow and dip it in a topping like chocolate or cream. Then you submerge the entire thing in a bowl of liquid nitrogen for 5 seconds to create an icy treat. Currently, ice fondue is available at several restaurants in the Netherlands and Belgium.
