Beach Hut Nuts

One of the coolest things I encountered on a visit to the English “Riviera” in Great Britain was the beach hut line on the waterfront. They are basically mini houses right on the beach where people store their summer gear and hang out when they need a break from the sun. Although they are small, 6ft by 4ft is average, it’s not unheard of for people to spend the night inside. They are bought and sold like full sized homes and have gone for more than $150,000 in prime locations!!
If you don’t want to shell out the cash to purchase a hut, many owners rent them out but the best beaches are booked well in advance so you may want to start planning for next summer! Check out www.beach-huts.com for more information.

It’s great to see how far and wide enthusiasm for beach huts has spread!
I run the web site beach-huts.com so am lucky enough to have a lot to do with the UK’s beach huts…
Beach huts were derived from the Victorian bathing machine and in some cases fisherman’s huts…
The UK has around 23 thousand beach huts… Most are in the south of England, with other patches further north, including some in the north of Wales and the South of Scotland… I could not find any in Northern Ireland… Buying one can set you back anything from £4K – £140K
A 4K beach hut normally can’t be slept in and has few mod cons…
A 140K beach hut may sleep 4 or more people have solar power or in some rare cases electricity… Have a gas stove and oven and a gas powered fridge… Some people have TV and other gadgets…
