Happy Elvis Week

August 16th marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, the undisputed King of Rock and Roll. Every year, fans flock to his home in Memphis, Tennessee to partake in a week’s worth of activities including speeches by friends and associates, themed dances, a concert and a candlelight vigil in front of Graceland mansion. It’s an event all Elvis fans should attend at least once. I was lucky enough to attend the 1998 festivities and I’ll never forget it. As this is a landmark year, there will be coverage on Good Morning America every day and Larry King will be interviewing Priscilla Presley live from the mansion on August 15th.

For those who aren’t fans, Memphis is still a great place to visit with many, many things to do. You can read about my last trip to Memphis here for all of the great things to check out whether you’re in the city for Elvis or not. You can visit Elvis’s official site for help planning a visit to the area and check out the Elvis Week website for information and coverage of this year’s event. The live webcam at Graceland is particularly fun!
